EMTP Allied Health Training is proud to announce the inception of a new program, the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) designation from the National Health Career Association.

Are you interested in working as a medical assistant, but you want to do more than just answer phones and schedule appointments?  Receiving the CCMA designation from the NHA can allow you to perform more duties on the clinical side of medical assisting.

Medical assistants fulfill both clinical and administrative tasks at hospitals, physicians’ offices, clinics, and other medical settings.  With focus being placed on the clinical side of the responsibilities,  CCMA duties could include measuring a patients’ vital signs, recording patient medical histories, preparing examination rooms, performing venipunctures, giving injections, and even being that second set of hands for your physician during procedures. You may also function as the multi skilled medical assistant performing administrative duties. These duties could include accounts payable, accounts receivable and patient billing.  When your skills have been fine-tuned by our dedicated and highly skilled educators, you will complete a 48 hour clinical rotation where you will begin to put the skills you are learning into practice in an actual health care facility with real patients.

The CCMA course will run approximately 15 weeks.  Within this course you will receive three additional certificates other than the National recognized CCMA designation.  Your training will also include a CPR certification, a phlebotomy certification and an EKG certification.  EMTP will structure this course so that you will be prepared to become a functional, multi-skilled professional who is a valued member of an Allied Healthcare team.  Our educators are highly qualified to get you started in your new career.  The CCMA Program Director brings 16 years of experience as a medical assistant educator and professional association involvement to the program.  EMTP places strong emphasis on excellent quality education that will prepare you to enter the growing, exciting, and rewarding career of medical assistant.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average hourly wage for medical assistants was $14.31/hr.  Additionally, those who held the CCMA designation received hourly wages up to $17.33/hr.  Salary increases with the level of experience for the CCMA.  During the first year the CCMA’s annual predicted wage should range from $21,000 to $31,000.  The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics also indicates that the employment growth rate for a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant will be at least 34% from 2008 – 2018, which makes this professional field one of the fastest growing occupations in the US.
