Blood borne Pathogens-Medical

Course Description

In healthcare, the opportunity exists to be exposed to blood borne pathogens. The goal of this class is to teach students to recognize signs and symptoms, to be aware of high risk activities, and how to handle an exposure. The class is 4 hours in duration. Successful completion of this class fulfills the blood borne pathogens requirement set forth by KBEMS for EMT’s, Paramedics and other medical personnel.

Course Audience

The course is designed for individuals who need continuing education concerning Blood Borne pathogens. Please note that the Blood born Pathogens Certification is included in the Phlebotomy course.

Certification

After successful completion of this course and the examination, you will receive a certificate of completion through the American Heart Association. The certification is valid for ten years.

 

 

Heartsaver® Blood borne Pathogens-Industrial

 

Course Description

The Heartsaver Blood borne Pathogens course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for blood borne pathogens training. This course is taught to help students learn what to do when there is danger of or has been exposure to blood borne pathogens in the workplace.

The course is taught with emphasis on protecting yourself from exposure, acting when exposed, cleaning yourself and the area involved and reporting any exposure in compliance with OSHA regulations.

Course Audience

Heartsaver Blood borne Pathogens is intended for workers in the commercial market who must receive training per OSHA standards and individuals who work in the following fields as required by their employer:

  • state corrections facilities
  • tattoo design
  • industry and manufacturing
  • Fortune 1500 companies

Course Length

Approximately 1 hour

Certification

After successful completion of the course and examination you will receive a certification card from the American Heart Association. The certification is valid for one year.
