A paramedic is a healthcare professional who specializes in emergency medical care. They hold the highest certification that is recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. They are the highest ranking emergency medical services provider. To become a Paramedic, you will first need to be currently certified as and EMT-Basic.
Paramedics are responsible for advanced and critical care in emergency situations. They typically work in the emergency care setting such as ambulance services, fire departments, air medical transport and in the hospital setting. Paramedics provide enriched levels of care for medical emergencies and trauma care.

The Paramedics are equipped to provide specialized care that truly makes a difference. Time is of the essence in this job. EMTP will build on the EMT knowledge and experience that our students have and prepare them to provide fast and effective treatment that will make a difference in the quality of care their patients receive.
At EMTP our knowledgeable instructors will help you master the basic skills of an Emergency Medical Responder and teach you more invasive procedures that you will need to know to become a Paramedic.Paramedics perform a wide range of medical procedures, including more advanced ones such as administering drugs orally and intravenously, interpreting electrocardiograms (EKG’s), twelve lead EKG’s, performing endotracheal intubations, chest decompressions and treating minor injuries.
We encourage individuals interested in medical school, PA school or nursing to experience the EMT and Paramedic training to help you succeed in your career. Those interested in the emergency field will find this a stimulating and rewarding experience.
A Paramedic is skills driven job and just like the real world your education will be hands on too. EMTP incorporates simulated patients to provide realistic learning opportunities for students. We teach not just in the classroom but outdoors and in replicated situations to get practical experience. We build off of the foundation that you have as a EMT and help propel you to the next level. Our hands on and experience driven approach helps EMTP have one of the highest success rates for students! Nobody ever said that learning has to be work!
There any many reasons to take your career to the next level and become a Paramedic. As a Paramedic you will have the opportunity for more leadership and responsibility of patient care. With the added responsibilities that come with the job there is a significant pay increase from EMT to Paramedic.
After becoming a Paramedic, your talents will be in high demand. The U.S. Department of Labor ranks Paramedics as 12th among the fastest growing occupations requiring postsecondary education or an associate’s degree, making this a fast growing field in need of qualified profession.
In order to be eligible for the Paramedic course you must adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS) and the NREMT. You must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED. You must have graduated from a Kentucky/NREMT EMT course.
Upon successful completion of our Paramedic program, students will be eligible to test for their Paramedic Certification through the NREMT.
