EMT Training

EMT Training

The role of the Emergency Medical Technician is to provide emergency treatment and transportation for patients who seek emergency medical attention.  The EMT is trained in specialized knowledge and enhanced skills that are needed to provide patient care. This course will prepare individuals for employment in the EMS field, fire departments, hospitals, or though medical facilities and private ambulance services.

The EMT course prepares students to assess and treat patients. EMTs learn to utilize an array of different equipment for optimum patient care. They typically work out of ambulances as they are required to react quickly and come to a scene when they are called. It is essential that EMTs have the ability to think on their feet. They are called to a variety of different scenes that require the use of different skill sets. It is amazing the situations people find themselves in that require an EMTs help. Just when you think you have seen it all, trust us . . . you haven’t!

An EMT is a hands on job and just like the real world your education will be hands on too. EMTP incorporates simulated patients to provide realistic learning opportunities for students. We teach not just in the classroom but outdoors and in replicated situations to get practical experience. This fun and unique approach helps EMTP have one of the highest success rates for students! Nobody ever said that learning has to be work!

We offer smaller class sizes and work with students on an individual basis to ensure their success. EMTs have a challenging but rewarding field that truly makes a difference and has a large impact on saving lives so we aim to provide the best training possible.

This course is designed to prepare you with more than a basic understanding of emergency medicine. EMTs are responsible for administering drugs such as oxygen, activated charcoal, nitroglycerin, aspirin, albuterol, epinephrine, and glucose. As emergency care providers you will learn how to use simple and advanced airways and CPR as part of your course. Students learn a variety of ways to immobilize the spine and manage fractures. We strive to establish and place confident professionals in the field.

Students have the exciting opportunity to ride as a student with an ambulance service for their required clinical component to the class. This is an invaluable experience where you get patient contact, guided by an experienced EMS provider. Patent contacts and ambulance clinical hours are determined by the training institution (EMTP) and must comply with the guidelines set forth by the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS) and the National Registry.

Upon successful completion of our EMT program, students will be eligible to take the test through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), which is the agency in charge of the state EMT certification.
