The phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team whose main function is to obtain patients’ blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection and transportation of other clinical specimens. These blood samples are used for patient testing or for the blood donations.
Phlebotomists are employed throughout the health care system in hospitals, neighborhood health centers, labs, medical group practices, HMOs, public health facilities, and veterans’ hospitals. Many Phlebotomists find a job working with organizations like American Red Cross or the Kentucky Blood Center.

At EMTP our instructors, certified by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), will help you realize this high level of patient care by teaching you everything that you need to know in order to become a Certified Phlebotomist. A Phlebotomist needs to have a good knowledge of the human body, especially an understanding of the location and characteristics of vein and arteries.
We take a hands on approach to learning. During this ten day course you will graduate from working on manikins to practicing on real patients. CPR certification is also included in this class. An important component to the course, outside of the ten days in the classroom, is the clinical portion to your education. During this portion of your training you will get to experience what working as a Certified Phlebotomist is really like!
Upon completion of the course and the clinical requirements you will be prepared to take the NHA exam here locally, as we have certified proctors for the exam on site. Once you have successful completed the exam you will be a Nationally Certified Phlebotomy Technician through the NHA and ready to start your exciting new career as a Phlebotomist.
